Yuri

With a mix of my broken Spanish, a few words of English, lots of smiling and hand gestures, we somehow seemed to understand each other. Yuri moved to London six months ago from Minas Gerais, Southeast Brazil. 

His experience of this time has been positive. He said ‘people still need to eat wherever they are’. Yuri is one of the many food delivery bike couriers in the city, who you can see fearlessly weaving their way through the London rush hour traffic, with their distinctive, oversize, square backpacks. 

I just had time to compose and shoot a few frames before he said ‘ Sorry got more deliveries to make!’,  then a quick fist thump goodbye, before he jumped on his bike and he was gone.
